Our vast collection of images of Brazil is divided into sections. From the North-Eastern states we have the major cities including Salvador, Recife and Fortaleza. Tourist destinations include Porto Seguro and the Costa do Sauipe.

Central Brazil is one of several sections about Brazil. It has photographs of Brasilia with its futuristic architecture, and includes Iguassu Falls and other rural areas, for example the historic town of Goias Velho.

Carnival is the most famous cultural event in Brazil. The vibrant colours reflect the deafening pounding the drums. The Rio carnival is famous for its beautiful girls, but we also have images from the carnival in Salvador, Bahia.

GRES Imperatriz Leopoldinense Carnival Samba School honoured the Xingu Riverand its indigenous peoples as the theme of their 2017 carnival parade, with floats representing the beauty, the history, the natural environment, threats including hydroelectric dams, logging, agricultural agrotoxins, fire and deforestation, and highlighted the work of the Vilas Boas brothers, Claudio, Orlando and Leonardo and the strength of the indigenous peoples and their self-determination. Marching in the parade were other defenders of the forest - NGOs. Over twenty indigenous leaders came from the Xingu to participate, including Chief Raoni Metuktuire and Chief Jakalo Kalapalo.

The State of Minas Gerais is a little-known gem of colonial architecture and delightful rural travel, as our photographs show.

The one-time capital of Brazil, Rio continues to have the most vibrant cultural life. Home to the iconic statue of Christ the Redeemer, Rio also has an unchallengeable beach culture. The rest of the state is home to many historical towns.

One of the largest cities in the world, Sao Paulo is Brazil's commercial and industrial centre. Our images show daily life in the city.

The south of Brazil is home to vast agricultural areas, but includes several fascinating cities. The Jesuit Missions close to the Paraguay border are fascinating, and the city of Curitiba is known as one of the great environmental cities of the world.
